DOCTOR WHO actor Matt Smith has been banned by the show's writer from dating his female sidekicks, reports The Sun. Speaking at the premiere of series seven of the BBC1 sci-fi saga, Steven Moffat joked that he had warned Smith not to try it on with his co-stars, including newcomer Jenna-Louise Coleman. A red-faced Karen Gillan, who plays the Doctor's current companion Amy Pond, was in ear-shot and apparently responded: "This is so embarrassing!" While Smith was quick to deny he ever "came close" to having "a thing" with Gillan, explaining: "Absolutely not. No, no, no. We're professionals!"

LINGERIE MODEL IN STRONGMAN TEETH FALL
Lingerie model Michelle Hunziker suffered concussion live on television after a talent show act backfired. Strongman Rene Richter tried to lift the Swiss cover girl in a harness clamped in his teeth, reports The Sun. But Hunziker had to be rushed to hospital when Richter dropped her live on Germany's version of Britain's Got Talent. Medics diagnosed her with concussion and a "severely bruised bottom". The embarrassed strongman later confessed to show bosses: "I'm sorry. She just slipped out of my mouth."

LADY GAGA DEFENDS BACON AND FUR OUTFITS
Lady Gaga has defended her decision to wear outfits made of bacon and fur, explaining that when others "see a carcass", she sees a "museum pièce de résistance". The singer has been criticised for wearing a number of fur coats in public recently but she claims militant animal rights activists are "childish" and "abusive", reports TMZ. Gaga said she respected her fans' views but asked them to respect hers. In a comment seemingly directed to PETA activists who flour-bombed Kim Kardashian for wearing fur earlier this year, she said: "Save your flour to make bread for the children who are hungry."

OAPS DEMAND FIFTY SHADES OF GREY AUDIO
Hundreds of short-sighted pensioners have been asking for audio versions of Fifty Shades of Grey, according to the Daily Mirror. Calibre Audio Library, a charity which provides audio-books to the visually impaired, has had to order in extra copies to cope with the demand. Calls about the "mummy porn" trilogy by E.L. James have mostly come from women over 70, said a spokeswoman for the charity, adding: "Members can choose not to receive X-rated books, but many others like a story with a bit of spice."

SLACK STUDENT CAUGHT OUT BY AUTHOR
A cheeky literature student trying to find a summary of a book he hadn't read for homework was busted by its author. The pupil, who went by the user name 'Idiot America', went on Yahoo Answers to request a summary of The Boy Who Couldn't Sleep And Never Had To. But he was rumbled – not by an angry teacher or disappointed parent – but by the book's author D.C. Pierson, says the Daily Mail. "I'm bummed out that you don't want to try and finish it" wrote Pierson, insisting: "There's a ton more sex, swearing, and drugs in my book than anything else you have been or will be assigned in high school". ·
