Naked Rihanna chosen as one of GQ's 'Men of the Year'

Pop singer poses in just a jacket on the front of American style magazine

RIHANNA has been chosen as one of the 'Men of the Year' by GQ magazine. The pop singer celebrated the honour by posing naked, except for a jacket slung over her shoulders, for the cover of the US magazine's December edition.

The Bajan star was picked as the magazine's "obsession of the year" and joins other, male, luminaries including Ben Affleck, Channing Tatum, Quentin Tarantino and Usain Bolt in the 2012 winners circle.

It is now traditional for at least one woman to be named on the MOTY list. Last year Mila Kunis was chosen as the 'knockout' and in 2010 the award went to 'babe of the year' Scarlett Johansson. The first woman to make the list was Jennifer Aniston in 2005.

Rihanna's decision to shed her clothing for the photoshoot comes as no surprise, as she also stripped off for the cover of her new album, Unapologetic, which conveniently comes out a day before the magazine. However, MTV is forgiving of the 24-year-old singer. "It's not that Rihanna is trying to intentionally ooze sex; it's just how the beauty was born," it simpers.

The article accompanying the photoshoot in the magazine is also revealing. "Rihanna's interview is predictably driven by sex appeal and drama," notes the LA Times.

In it, writer Jay Bulger accompanies the singer on a typical night out and even elicits a comment on the infamous nightclub brawl between her ex Chris Brown and rapper Drake earlier this year.

Asked about the incident she turns "impenetrable" and "lawyerly" and she says: "There's no proof of that being for my love."

Later, Bulger recounts how they end up in the same club as Brown.

"He and Rihanna start tossing flirtatious glances like kids passing notes in middle-school math class," he writes. "The smirks and the playfulness continue until they're dancing with each other from afar. Then, out of mock frustration, Brown climbs over the top of the booth. A mischievous tingle of controversy vibrates through the club.

"Rihanna stares straight at me and passes me a spliff. She turns her green-hazel Bambi gaze back to Brown and begins to sway those famous hips from side to side. It's 2am. She looks like she's just getting started." ·
