Tabloid Tales: Cheryl Cole puts her foot down; Chesney Hawkes – who is he?

CHERYL COLE has vowed never to return as a judge on The X Factor – even if ITV begs her. The Girls Aloud singer has been urged to return to the prime-time show which is suffering from plummeting viewing figures but according to The Sun she will resist any offers from ITV. A friend told the paper: "Cheryl really enjoyed her time on the show but she has moved on. She had three really good years and wants to leave it there." The pop star's spokesman confirmed: "Cheryl has no plans to return."

One-hit wonder Chesney Hawkes attracted only a tiny crowd when he opened the Hastings ice rink with a free concert, the Daily Mirror reports. Hawkes finished his show with a version of Slade's Merry Christmas Everybody before singing his 1991 number one hit The One And Only. One local said: "They could have found someone more suitable than this Chesney. How many young people will even know who he is?" Hawkes tweeted: "Thank you Hastings for welcoming me with open arms. Lovely crowd."

A surprise ninth Harry Potter film is being filmed - but only to be shown at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction in Florida and two new Hogwarts theme parks under construction in California and Japan, opening in 2016. A source told the Metro: "The shooting schedule is nowhere near as long as the films, so though filming has been intense, the stars have enjoyed being able to pop in and out." The last 'proper' film, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows — Part 2, was released last year and subtitled 'it all ends'.

Singer Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine jumped off the stage in the middle of a gig in Aberdeen and broke up a fight among her fans, according to The Star. The red-haired singer apparently spotted a girl crying in the audience and asked: "Are you okay my love?" She then jumped into the audience in her bare feet and sorted out the troublemakers. One witness said: "You don’t expect the talent to have to act as a bouncer as well."
