Have Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth split up for good?
The Hannah Montana star and her Australian actor fiancee appear to have broken up for the last time
THE on-again, off-again relationship between Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus and her Australian fiancée, actor Liam Hemsworth, appears to have hit its last brick wall.
Hemsworth, 23, has flown back to Australia to spend time with his family, including his brother Chris, the star of Thor. Meanwhile, Cyrus has been spotted outside a Los Angeles recording studio without the 3.5-carat diamond engagement ring Hemsworth gave her on 31 May last year, the New York Post reports.
Cyrus, the 20-year-old daughter of country music one-hit-wonder Billy Ray Cyrus, has been trying "for a big career comeback" with her fourth album, the paper says. She has been working with edgy collaborators including the producers Dr. Luke and Pharrell Williams.
A source close to the couple told the Daily Mail: "Miley and Liam are done; it's over. She likes to party really hard and can be pretty wild. It became a problem for him."
Another source added that the rift was due to Cyrus's concern that the actor had a "wandering eye". Last month, there was speculation that Hemsworth had "cheated" on his fiancée, because he was seen with 35-year-old Mad Men actress January Jones at a pre-Oscars party in Los Angeles.
The Cyrus-Hemsworth union has been bumpy to say the least. The pair met in 2009 on the set of the movie The Last Song and dated until August 2010. A month later they were reportedly back together, but broke up again in early November. Their most recent reunion culminated in their engagement and the wedding was supposed to be held before the end of the year.
That seems unlikely now, although all hope is not lost. The Sun quotes another source close to Cyrus saying it would be wrong to rule out yet another reconciliation. "Miley is a fiery character, and they do fight, but she is crazy about Liam," the source said. "She isn't ready to accept it might be over for good." ·
