More woe for Samsung as director leaves stage after fluffing his lines at curved TV press event

DIRECTOR Michael Bay was left red-faced after he fluffed his lines and unexpectedly walked off stage during a Samsung press conference at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Bay, whose films include Transformers and Armageddon, was invited to speak in front of hundreds of reporters to help promote the new Samsung's curved, ultrahigh-definition 105-inch TV.

But when his teleprompter malfunctioned he struggled to ad lib his way through the presentation, despite assuring the audience that he would "wing it". After several awkward moments of silence, he walked off, leaving Samsung executive vice president Joe Stinziano alone on stage.

Later in a blog post on his website, he admitted: "Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES."

He added: "I got too excited to talk that I skipped over the exec VP's intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down – then I walked off. I guess live shows aren't my thing."

Bay's "meltdown" became the most talked-about moment yet at the consumer electronics show, says the LA Times. It came just one day after a reporter tweeted a photo from a Samsung reception that showed the company's rain machine misspelling the word "experience". The falling water instead spelled "experiece".

The image was retweeted nearly 450 times, with people joking about the missing N. One tweeter wrote: "LEAVE SAMSUG ALOE".
