‘Golden voice’ Ted gets Nicholson film offer
Offers flood in for homeless man who became an overnight sensation thanks to YouTube
Things just keep getting better for Ted Williams, the homeless man from Ohio who shot to fame after a YouTube video of him showing off his "golden voice" was seen by millions. He has now been offered a part in a movie alongside Jack Nicholson, according to Entertainment Tonight.
Williams was discovered by a local newspaper videographer, offering to demonstrate his voiceover technique at an Ohio interchange.
As well as the movie part, he is reported to have been offered the announcer's job at the Cleveland Cavaliers. And he told his mother – with whom he was reunited this week after a gap of 20 years - that he has already recorded voiceovers for four Kraft Macaroni & Cheese adverts, for which he will earn $10,000 each.
Speaking about the film role, he told Entertainment Tonight: "As a matter of fact, Jack Nicholson had contacted one of my in-laws who happens to be in Columbus Ohio.
"They're supposed to be making a movie in which Jack is playing opposite a disc jockey, which he would like me to portray in the movie."
Williams said he "adores" the Cleveland Cavaliers and was seriously considering their offer, which is reported to include his being put up in the former home of LeBron James, who left the team last year to join the Miami Heat.
Williams, 53, who is thought to have been living rough for a decade, has battled drugs and alcohol but claims to have been clean for more than two years.
His mother, Julia, accompanied him as a guest on CBS's The Early Show today. "It was just so beautiful," she said of her first meeting with her son on Thursday. "My little son, Prodigal Son, has come back home." ·
