Is David Beckham going bald? That's the question tabloid readers are asking today after the former England and Manchester United football star was photographed showing what might be a spot of bare scalp at a Los Angeles restaurant.

The Daily Mail picked the brains of "award-winning hairdresser" Karine Jackson, who revealed her follicular credentials thus: "As a woman I love to look at David Beckham's hair and I was a bit shocked to see this."

She believes a patch like the one spotted in the LA restaurant picture is rare in male pattern baldness and says it may just be a trick of the light.

David Beckham's hair is, of course, a favourite subject of the British tabloids. Every new style is deemed worthy of a write up - and the spectre of baldness has been mentioned on more than one occasion.

Happily for "Goldenbald", The First Post has a solution. The picture above shows what Beckham might look like were he to embrace his alleged baldness. Why should Bobby Charlton be the only former Manchester United legend to sport a comb-over? ·

Some may take hair loss and baldness as a normal process in some people. You'd just probably think that it is in Mr. Jones' nature to lose some of his hair in front because he is getting older. But you wouldn't know what it really feels like when you don't experience it yourself right?
