Michael Jackson’s ‘4th son’ attended memorial
Norwegian rapper Omer Bhatti was apparently conceived when Jackson had a one-night stand after a concert in 1984
A Norwegian rapper and dancer thought to be Michael Jackson's "secret son" apparently sat with the Jackson family in the front row of the singer's memorial service. The appearance of Omer Bhatti, 25, at the memorial (far left) and his physical similarities to Jackson's youngest son, seven-year-old Prince Michael II, has fuelled speculation that he is the King of Pop's son.
Jackson reportedly told close friends several years ago that he had fathered Bhatti after a one-night stand with a Norwegian fan in 1984. Bhatti, who performs under the stage name O-Bee, is believed to be seeking a DNA test to prove his relationship to Jackson.
According to the Sun, Omer Bhatti also lived at the Thriller singer's Neverland mansion for several years and spent time with the singer's other children. In 1996 he appeared with Jackson in Tunisia and performed with him. Bhatti is understood to have been at Neverland when police investigating child abuse allegations against Jackson swooped in 2003.
Bhatti said in an interview last year: "It was totally sick. It was the whole squad from Santa Barbara Police Department. We didn't know why they were there. Michael was not at home."
Bhatti's Norwegian mother Pia reportedly worked as a nanny for Michael's 'official' son Prince Michael II, while his Pakistani father Riz became a chauffeur. Riz confirmed that his son was at the memorial, but refused to comment on whether Jackson was his biological father. He told the Sun: "Make what you like. I don't want to discuss anything."
Other developments:
• Sony Pictures is leading the bid for footage of Michael Jackson's rehearsals for his ill-fated 'This Is It' comeback tour, with a bid of $50m. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Jackson's concert promoter AEG Live offered the worldwide distribution rights for about 1,200 hours of high-definition video to all the major studios last week, sparking a bidding frenzy. AEG hopes to recoup the money it spent on producing the concert, estimated to be as much as $30m.
• Los Angeles officials have launched a 'civil and criminal' probe into the $1.4 million cost of the King of Pop's memorial at the Staples Center. City council spokesman John Franklin told the LA Times that LA city attorney Carmen Trutanich's "main goal here is to recoup taxpayers' money". LA mayor Antonio Villaraigosa insisted last week that Jackson's concert promoters AEG Live will not be billed, but the cash-strapped council may change its mind should AEG earn a reported $50m from the sales of unseen Jackson rehearsal footage.
• Michael Jackson's father Joe has blamed his son's cardiologist Dr Conrad Murray for his death. Joe Jackson told chat show host Larry King that Murray gave the singer something to "make him rest, and then he don't wake up no more. Something is wrong there". He also said that the disappearance after his son's death by Murray, who has been interviewed by police but is apparently not a suspect, was also suspicious. "This doctor, he ran away. They had to look for him three days to find him. To me that is foul play." ·
