ITV’s celebrities line up for jungle fever

The list of minor celebrities lined up for the latest edition of I'm a Celebrity Get me Outta Here includes London's godfather of punk, Malcolm McLaren. He had barely touched down in Australia, where the jungle-based reality show is filmed, before he was complaining of having been pressured into taking part.

McLaren, the former manager of the Sex Pistols and lover of fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, told reporters at Brisbane airport that ITV bosses had agreed to air The Baron, another reality show he made earlier this year - which had been shelved. He said: "I think I've been bullied into doing this and part of the contractual obligation was that they would screen The Baron if I did the jungle."

Mclaren, now 61, filmed The Baron alongside ex-Hear'Say singer Susanne Shaw and the comedian and East Enders actor Mike Reid before his death in July. The trio were sent to live in a remote Scottish village where they had to compete in tasks to become lord of the manor. McLaren caused a storm within the small religious community by saying Jesus "was a sausage". He was thrown off the show, and it has never been aired.

McLaren is joined on I'm a Celebrity by Koo Stark, the one-time actress girlfriend of Prince Andrew who blew her chances with the royal family by appearing in a soft-porn film. Others include TV presenter Christopher Biggins, chef John Burton Race, ex-footballer Rodney Marsh, PR Lynne Franks and Fred Fairbrass from Right Said Fred. Rumours that the disgraced rocker Gary Glitter might take part have proved false. ·
