Have American cinema-goers discovered a new star? The signs are that the relatively unknown actress Amy Adams, who plays the gorgeous maiden Giselle in the new Disney fairytale romance Enchanted, will capture hearts across America this Thanksgiving weekend. "She may be the most lovable princess since Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday," wrote one newspaper critic about her performance opposite Grey's Anatomy heart-throb Patrick Dempsey. "She is truly magical," wrote another. "Absolutely adorable," said a third.

Enchanted, part animated and part conventional musical, tells the story of a group of characters who tumble down a well in the storybook land of Andalasia and pop up through a manhole cover in New York's Times Square. The story is told in a tongue-in-cheek style, as if Disney finally decided it's okay to make fun of itself, and Giselle is an amalgamation of every famous Disney princess - Cinderalla, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty.

Adams, 33, appeared in Drop Dead Gorgeous and Catch Me If You Can. Until now, she was best known in Hollywood for her Oscar-nominated supporting role in a small indie film, Junebug. ·
