Murray accuses wife of child abuse
Bill Murray, who last month was accused of drunkenness, sex addiction and physical violence in the divorce papers issued by his wife, has struck back with his own set of allegations. The star of Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day and Lost in Translation has accused his wife, Jennifer Butler-Murray, of being a child-abusing drunk. Unlike her, however, he has police reports to back up his allegations.
Murray (pictured) claims his wife has a well-known reputation in her Charleston, South Carolina neighbourhood as "an avid drinker who gets physical with her children". A report filed at the Sullivan's Island Police Department shows that on March 17 this year Butler-Murray got drunk and shouted at her children, forcing them to flee to a neighbour's house. A police officer who interviewed the children said: "They informed me that their mother had been drinking heavily and had [become] physical with them." When another officer went to visit Butler-Murray he found her "very impaired".
Butler-Murray, who wants full custody of the children, has not released a statement through her lawyer since her husband made the counter-allegations. She maintains that throughout their 11-year marriage the actor took drugs, cheated on her and frequently hit her. ·
