Bond curse claims star victim as Daniel Craig injured at Pinewood
The latest James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, has suffered a fair degree of misfortune - car prangs, injured stuntmen, etc. Now it's star turn, Daniel Craig (pictured on set with co-star Olga Kurylenko), has been injured - on Tuesday he was taken to hospital after slicing off the tip of one of his fingers while filming an action sequence at Pinewood Studios.
It is the second time in two weeks that Craig, 41, has been injured. A week ago his face was cut and required eight stitches. Says a member of the Bond production team of the latest incident: "There was quite a lot of blood and it was decided he needed to go to hospital for emergency treatment." Craig, who insists on doing a fair amount of his own stunt work, was released later and is said to have been well enough to resume filming today.
The making of Quantum of Solace, which is due to be released in October, has been plagued by accidents. In addition to Craig's injuries, two stunt men were badly hurt while filming on location in northern Italy in April. One of these, Fraser Dunn, 29, was left fighting for his life after he crashed a £134,000 Aston Martin DBS into the water at Lake Garda. ·
