Snowdon dumps Marjorie Wallace
It seems the Earl of Snowdon, 78, has parted company with his long-standing mistress Marjorie Wallace, the founder of the mental health charity Sane, after she talked to two newspapers about their affair. As reported on The First Post, the pair, who first met while working for the Sunday Times in the 1970s, had been an item for more than five years. However, her disclosure of this - she told one reporter, "I suppose I am his mistress. It's wonderful, isn't it?" - proved too much for Princess Margaret's former husband.
"Tony's now binned her," Melanie Cable-Alexander, another of his former paramours, told the Sunday Telegraph. Apparently Wallace, 64, knew the writing was on the wall when the peer stood her up at the London restaurant Le Caprice this week. It is a strange turn of events, given that Snowdon himself had thought nothing of revealing his myriad lovers for a recently published biography written by Anne de Courcy. ·
