Hefner book reveals Mr Playboy’s gay tryst
Hugh Hefner, the founder of Playboy magazine, has revealed that he once had a gay sex encounter. The revelation appears in a new authorised biography of Hefner, Mr Playboy: Hugh Hefner and the American Dream by Steven Watts, and occurred in an unspecified time in an unnamed bar in Chicago.
Hefner, who says that Watts' book "is all essentially true", says "he was propositioned (by a man) and, thought, 'What the hell...'" He is said to have found it "an interesting experience", but one, presumably, he didn’t choose to repeat.
In between telling the story of how 82 year-old Hefner created the Playboy empire, Watts finds room to detail many more of the man's sexual exploits, including a foursome involving his brother and sister-in-law. Another has 'Hef' starring his own porn film; the alluringly titled After the Masquerade. Hefner says: "It's the most authoritative book ever written about me." ·
