Pupils at Davenies, an all-boys Buckinghamshire prep school, were treated to an appearance by two major Hollywood stars, Robert de Niro and Kate Beckinsale, at their end-of- summer-term dinner. The actors appeared by video link, which had been arranged by film director Kirk Jones, the father of one of the children. They then presented one of the teachers with a lifetime of achievement award for her work with cub scouts………… Sir Ian McKellen has recorded a rap-version of Shakespeare's Sonnet 18. The acclaimed actor laid down the track as part of a visit to City Gateway Centre in East London and seemed pleased with the results. "Shakespeare is all based on beats, rhythm and rhyme - all things that rappers deal with," he said.......... Jamie Oliver received a timely comeuppance yesterday while previewing his latest TV offering for Channel 4 at the Skylon restaurant on London's South Bank. Among the clips shown was one of Oliver, who has put on some weight recently, walking on to the pitch of Rotherham United Football Club to encourage fans to give up their match-day pies. Oliver's efforts were met with ungracious chants of "you fat bastard" from the crowd………… Bianca Jagger, the former wife of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, has lost a £200,000 diamond on the streets of Salzburg. Local police said the chances of finding the ring were slim because of recent street cleanings………... The former political editor of ITN, John Sergeant, is to appear as a contestant on the BBC series Strictly Come Dancing……… Fans of the Kung Fu star Bruce Lee are battling to turn his former Hong Kong home into a museum. The modest two-floor house where the Enter the Dragon star spent the last few months of his life in 1973 is currently a "love hotel", where rooms can be rented by the hour………… ·
