Roger Federer fails to show for Anna Wintour
Michael Kors and Oscar de la Renta were two of the biggest names on Wednesday's schedule at New York Fashion Week - dubbed 'Fashion Weak' by one weary Gawker blogger, one of the many to be unimpressed by much of this season's offerings. Kors sent models - including Agyness Deyn (left) - down the runway wearing in preppy knee-length dresses and retro swimsuits, in a cheerful and bouncy show. "It even seemed as if too-cool model Agyness Deyn cracked a smile while strutting in a V-neck navy jumpsuit with a graphic striped pullover underneath," said the Canadian press agency.
But Kors - real name Karl Anderson Jr - failed to pull off his tongue-in-cheek Hamptons look with this collection, noted Hadley Freeman in the Guardian. "Yesterday looked like he was dangerously close to taking himself seriously and, frankly, preppy, when it's done with a straight face, is just boring."
Sultry, asymmetrical gowns were a highlight of Oscar de la Renta's show (right), which was attended by Jennifer Lopez and Anna Wintour. Sadly, the Vogue editor appeared without Roger Federer, who has accompanied her to the show for the past two years running. The newly-crowned US Open champ was nowhere to be seen, despite Wintour taking time out from Fashion Week to support him in Monday’s final against Andy Murray. ·
