Sarah Palin’s expensive tastes revealed

No wonder John McCain's presidential campaign is strapped for cash. It has emerged that Sarah Palin's expensive taste in clothes and beauty treatments has cost the Republicans $150,000 since she came aboard as vice presidential candidate in early September.

Financial disclosure records show that the Republican National Committee has met several big bills, including a shopping spree at Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis where she blew $75,062.63 in September, and two trips to Saks Fifth Avenue in St Louis and New York where she spent a combined $49,425.74. In September alone she apparently spent nearly $5,000 on hair and beauty.

To be fair to the Governor of Alaska, one of the reasons McCain plucked her from obscurity to be his running mate was that she would look good on the ticket. And McCain is not adverse to a little retail therapy himself: commentators had a field–day earlier this year when it was learned that he spent $520 on a pair of black leather Ferragamo loafers. ·
