Rosamund Pike (pictured) is to star in a new BBC-funded movie that explores the origins of the current financial crises. In Freefall the actress will play a disillusioned broker ............. Adrian Edmondson - best known for playing foul-mouthed Vyvyan Basterd in the 1980's comedy series The Young Ones - is leaving acting to become a mandolin player. Edmondson had formed a band, the Bad Shepherds, and has lined up 27-day UK tour of small clubs and pubs............. A jury has been selected for Phil Spector's murder retrial in the long-awaited case set to start next Wednesday. The music producer, who pioneered the symphonic ‘Wall of Sound’ recording technique in the 1960s, is accused of shooting dead the struggling actress and nightclub hostess Lana Clarkson at his Los Angeles mansion in February 2003........... Raffaello Follieri, former boyfriend of actress Anne Hathaway, has been sentenced to four and a half years’ jail. Follieri, 30, pleaded guilty in September to fraudulently obtaining $2.4m by persuading investors that he had Vatican connections that enabled him to buy the Roman Catholic Church's unwanted US properties at a discount............ The Artic Monkeys are to make their big screen debut in a new film by Shane Meadows. The film, called Le Donk and starring Paddy Considine, is described as a cross between "Spinal Tap and Napoleon".............
