In Town Last Night: talent turns out for South Bank gongs

The South Bank Show has been an arbiter of high art and popular culture since the 1970s and last night saw their annual awards show take place at the Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane - a plush ceremony that honours actors, performers and artists of all hues.

Several generations of talent turned up, including established luvvies Sir Ben Kingsley and John Hurt, Frost/Nixon star Michael Sheen, Strictly Come Dancing runner-up Rachel Stevens (above), Gavin and Stacey favourites James Corden and Joanna Page and Shooting Stars host Vic Reeves with his wife Nancy Sorrell. ·
