Is Kate Moss joining The Kills?

Supermodel and rag trade designer Kate Moss (left) has dabbled in the past with the idea of becoming a pop star, occasionally taking to the stage with her former boyfriend Pete Doherty's band Babyshambles when they were an item. She had better think again if she believes she will be afforded the same honour by The Kills, her current boyfriend Jamie Hince's outfit.

Because if Hince doesn't object to the idea, Allison Mosshart (right), his musical partner, certainly does. When asked about the 35-year-old Moss's alleged ambition to perform with The Kills, she said cuttingly: "I don't understand how it would be appropriate. I don't think she would understand how it would be appropriate."

And when asked if Moss's presence had any effect on her relationship with Hince, she became slightly tetchy. "Of course not. No, nothing between us has changed. We've known each other for 12 years, we're best friends. We spend 24 hours a day together most of the time and we have done so for the past billion years."

Well, not quite as much time. When they started The Kills, Mosshart and Hince occupied an apartment where they lived and wrote songs together. Today Hince spends more time at Kate's St John's Wood mansion. Although she insists Hince is still technically her flatmate, Mosshart concedes: "He doesn't sleep there as often as he used to." ·
