Comic hero Obama takes axe to Palin
A new series of comics will portray the silver-tongued Barack Obama as a warrior who lets his axe do the talking as he seeks to destroy his Republican foes. Due to be published by Chicago-based Devil's Due in June, Barack the Barbarian: Quest for the Treasure of Stimuli will pit the US President against his arch-nemesis Sarah Palin, a deadly warrior clad only in a revealing wolfskin and chain-mail bikini.
But as brave Barack takes on not only Palin but the shady Overlord Boosh and Chainknee of the Elephant Kingdom (Bush and Cheney - geddit?), can he trust the Sorceress Hilaria and her husband, the demi-god trickster Bill?
According to Devil's Due's founder, Josh Blaylock, the comic series - which is an imagining of how present-day events may be distorted in the distant future - is a political satire that takes inspiration from the rapidly growing pile of Obama tribute comics (featuring both Michelle and Barack) as well as from the president's own fondness for collecting Conan the Barbarian comics from the 1970s.
Another Devil's Due comic, Drafted: 100 Days, will tell the story of how President Obama takes Earth into an intergalactic war.
There's no word yet from the White House on how the First Family might view this cheeky venture, though they should be getting used to it. Earlier this year, the new US President was depicted in a Spider-Man comic, while his wife featured in a 22-page graphic novel biography.
