One of the most high-profile lesbian love affairs in Hollywood has just turned nasty. Wild-child actress Lindsay Lohan (right) who used to date men such as George Best's son Calum Best, actor Wilmer Valderrama and restaurant owner Harry Morton before she took up with the English DJ Samantha Ronson (left), has had a very public break-up with her girlfriend, involving Twitter postings in which she accused Ronson of cheating on her and taking drugs.

Now, Ronson’s family, which includes music producer and DJ Mark Ronson and Samantha’s twin sister Charlotte Ronson, the fashion designer, have waded into the fray and are apparently seeking a restraining order against Lohan.

The 22-year-old actress confirmed that she and Ronson had broken up - “at least for now” - in an interview on Monday with E! News. "We are taking a brief break so I can focus on myself," she said. Meanwhile Ronson, nine years older than her ex-girlfriend, changed her MySpace relationship status to 'single'.

Beverly Hills police have since told US Weekly magazine that Ronson's mother and sister Charlotte have inquired about taking out a restraining order. This followed an awkward incident last Friday when Lohan was reportedly barred from a party at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood, thrown in Charlotte’s honour. Guests including Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie showed up - but Lohan was excluded. Asked how it felt, the actress told US Weekly it was "the worst night of my life" and added that she felt "so alone" without Ronson, her girlfriend of nearly two years.

Perhaps Lohan, the star of Freaky Friday and Mean Girls, should take heart from rapper Eminem's latest single. As reported on The First Post  this week, on his new track We Made You he tells the actress: "Samantha's a tool, you're practically a 10, I know you want me girl". ·
