If rumours circulating in the US press are to be believed, Bruce Springsteen has been at it again. The American rock star stands accused of breaking a marriage in New Jersey after having an affair with a married woman. A local businessman named Arthur J Kelly has cited Springsteen as the reason behind the breakdown of his marriage to Ann C Kelly, his wife of 17 years.

According to the Huffington Post, Arthur Kelly began divorce proceedings in March, claiming in court documents that his wife "has committed adultery with one Bruce Springsteen, who resides in Rumson, NJ, and Colts Neck, NJ, at various times and places too numerous to mention".

While Springsteen's camp has remained tight-lipped over the allegation, it wouldn’t be the first time that the Born in the USA singer - or The Boss, as he likes to be known - has been caught playing away from home.

In 1991 he divorced his first wife Julianne Phillips to marry his E Street Band backing singer, Patti Scialfa (pictured with Springsteen). Although he and Scalfia have been married for 17 years, and have three children together, there were reports in 2006 that the pair were splitting after rumours that he had begun an affair with a 9/11 widow he met at a charity event. But the 59-year-old singer-songwriter publicly denied that allegation on his website.

While fans wait to see whether Springsteen admits to this latest indiscretion, unfolding in Monmouth County, New Jersey, Edward Fradkin, Kelly's attorney, says the court papers “speak for themselves". ·
