First sight of Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly - video
Opulence of Monaco in 1962 recreated by director who made Edith Piaf film, La Vie En Rose
AT LAST, a trailer offers a glimpse of Nicole Kidman's much-anticipated turn as Grace Kelly in Grace of Monaco directed by Olivier Dahan whose biopic of singer Edith Piaf, La Vie en Rose, won two Oscars.
Kelly was the all-American girl who gave up a meteoric film career at the age of 26 to marry Prince Rainer of Monaco, played in the movie by Tim Roth. She died in 1982 after suffering a stroke while driving on the Cote d'Azur.
The film is set in 1962 and focuses on the role Princess Grace played in a diplomatic conflict between Monaco and France under President Charles de Gaulle. Also in that year, Alfred Hitchcock tried to tempt Kelly back to Hollywood.
The supporting cast includes Frank Langella, Parker Posey and Derek Jacobi. ·
