This week sees the re-release of the iconic Francis Ford Coppola movie, Apocalypse Now. First released in 1979 (read about its original reception), the film was partly an attempt to document the madness of the Vietnam war, which ended in humiliation for the US four years earlier. Above, from left to right: Dennis Hopper the babbling photojournalist; Martin Sheen as protagonist Captain Benjamin Willard; and Frederic Forrest as his ship-mate Jay Hicks, the chef, just after they have landed at Colonel Kurtz's camp.
