Michael Foot: 1913-2010
Michael Foot in full flow attacking Beverley Baxter, Conservative MP for Wood Green, journalist and critic at a debate in 1945, the year he first became a Labour MP after winning the Plymouth Devonport seat. Foot was born in Plymouth, the son of a lawyer. He attended Oxford University and afterwards witnessed extreme poverty while working as a shipping clerk in Liverpool in 1934. He chose to join the Labour party instead of the Liberals - the party of the rest of his family.
