The Noughties

New York firefighters arrive on the scene after the collapse of the first World Trade Center tower on September 11, 2001. That morning 19 al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners, crashing two into the Twin Towers and one into the Pentagon in Washington. The fourth plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. The death toll was 2,973 plus the 19 hijackers.
