Mumbai's historic Taj Mahal Palace hotel, under siege from Islamist militants in November 2008. Four gunmen held dozens of terrified hotel guests hostage for around 60 hours. The hotel has since re-opened and a marble plinth, listing the names of the 31 people who died there, stands in the lobby.
