Nepal’s mass sacrifice

A million Hindus from Nepal and India gathered at a temple in southern Nepal at dawn on November 24, the start of the two-day Gadhimai festival. The ritual, which has been described as the world's biggest animal sacrifice, began with the temple's head priest sacrificing two rats, two pigeons, a rooster, a lamb and a pig.
The annual slaughter of some 200,000 animals has begun in the village of Bariyapur
