Amelia Earhart shot to fame in 1928 when she flew across the Atlantic as the passenger of Wilmer Stulz and Louis Gordon in a Fokker aeroplane. Earhart is pictured above in Newfoundland with the plane, called 'Friendship'. The journey to Llanelli, Wales, took 20 hours and 40 minutes.
