Performers dance for Colonel Gaddafi and his guests as part of the celebrations to mark his 40th anniversary as Libya's leader. Gaddafi came to power on September 1, 1969 in a bloodless military coup against King Idris I. Six days of anniversary celebrations began on Monday night.
