Six to watch

ALBERTO AQUILANI - LIVERPOOL.
The 25-year-old midfielder is one of only a few big name signings to arrive in the Premier League this season. He joined Liverpool from Roma in a £20m deal and will fill the boots of Real Madrid-bound Xabi Alonso. He was courted by Arsenal and Chelsea as a teenager but remained loyal to Roma, where the fans called him 'Il Principo' (the Little Prince). The Italy international has a checkered injury record and underwent ankle surgery this summer, but Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is unconcerned.
Michael Owen - Manchester United
Once one of the most feared strikers in Europe, Michael Owen was left without a club at the end of last season when his contract at relegated Newcastle expired. The 29-year-old's career seemed to be in terminal decline until Sir Alex Ferguson stepped in and offered Owen an unexpected lifeline. All eyes will be on Owen this season as he tries to prove he still has the killer touch and win back his England place – if he can stay fit.
