Budd Schulberg 1914-2009

Brando won an Oscar for his role as Terry Malloy, a washed-up boxer turned dockworker who struggles to stand up to his corrupt union bosses. The script was based on newspaper articles by Malcolm Johnson, but iconic lines such as "I coulda been a contender" were Schulberg's.
