Killers and whales
The Japanese Whaling Association say that they are legally entitled to hunt between 900 and 1,000 whales every year, and that they have to sell the meat because of a rule against wasting the by-products of scientific research. Their stance is fiercely opposed by the Australian government, which has set up an exclusion zone and sent a customs ship to monitor the Japanese fleet.
