Karl Malden dies

Some of Malden's best work was with director Elia Kazan, who gave Malden his break by casting him as Mitch in his Broadway production of Tennessee Williams's 'A Streetcar Named Desire'. Malden reprised the role in the 1951 film (right, at a wardrobe test with Marlon Brando and Nick Dennis) and also cast him in 1954's 'On The Waterfront' (main picture), again opposite Brando and with Eva Marie Saint.
The Oscar-winning actor passed away yesterday in Los Angeles aged 97
