Screen sirens
Tim Bret-Day's fashion images for names such as Agent Provocateur and Harvey Nichols are overrun with beautiful women (usually in their scanties) engaging in kinky, semi-orgiastic activities - and looking perfectly preened while they're doing it. He's a master of the slick photographic tableau vivant that is both ultra modern and steeped in art history. He imagines decadent feasts, sinister covens, celestial picnics and pirate ships, all of them swarming with sexy Sirens and wild bacchantes. Despite the near visual overload the results sometimes cause, the idea behind them is simple - that women can be both sex object and dominatrix all rolled into one.
