Madonna, the early nudes
Long before she produced her controversial 'Sex' book in 1992, Madonna was thoroughly au fait with posing nude. In 1979, at the tender age of twenty and for the measly sum of $30, the future queen of pop agreed to model for photographer Martin Schreiber for a series of arty black-and-white life studies. Fresh-faced, languorous and far less provocative than we're used to, this is Madonna looking young, innocent and demure - but already unmistakably self-possessed. Needless to say, as soon as she became a megastar in the 1980s, these pictures found their way into 'Playboy' and beyond. Schreiber clearly recouped that $30 a long time ago.
