Suicide bomber strikes

A still image taken from a video recording shows the moment the bomber struck. He was believed to be a member of the Tamil Tigers, an armed separatist group who are credited with pioneering the use of suicide bombers. They have recently suffered a string of defeats at the hands of government troops who they have been fighting since 1983.
