War without soldiers
Among the MoD's technological goals is finding a way to reduce the weight a soldier has to carry from 70kg to 25kg and developing an all-terrain vehicle that weighs less than 30 tonnes but has the fighting capabilities of today's tanks.
Early designs for new weapons and vehicles have been unveiled in London by the MoD as a part of their 'Defence Technology Plan'. Developments include unmanned ground vehicles like these, some of which were designed for a national competition to identify promising robotic technology for use in war zones.
