When Argentina crashed

Demonstrators protest in Buenos Aires in December 2001 against the government of President Fernando de la Rua. After people started withdrawing their savings from Argentinean accounts, panic led to a run on the banks. When the government effectively froze all accounts, angry Argentineans took to the streets. De la Rua resigned the day after this photo was taken and fled the presidential palace in a helicopter
