Magnum classic
Not so long ago, Elliott Erwitt said, "People think I'm dead, because I've been around so long." And given that this 80-year-old is now a photography institution with a hugely well-known body of work behind him, perhaps it's not that surprising. A paid-up member of Magnum since 1953 and several times their president, Erwitt is famous for his anything-but-sombre monochrome shots that range from candid moments in everyday life to celebrity shots of Marilyn Monroe - and of course countless canines over the years, too. Unseen brings some of Erwitt's lesser-known pictures together with his 'personal best' and offers an occasional glimpse of that trademark humour - his eye for what he calls 'the human comedy'.
