Mick Jagger, New York, 1966
With his royal lineage and posh accent, the Queen's cousin Patrick Lichfield was never likely to struggle in life. But according to those he worked with, Lichfield's success as one of Britain's foremost professional photographers had more to do with charisma than breeding. A charmer who moved in all the right circles and was famous for putting his sitters as ease, his subjects were of course high-end fare for the most part: glamorous women, aristocrats, the Sixties cool crowd, actors and musicians, and the odd royal or rock'n'roll wedding. The man certainly had an appreciative eye for beauty and allure. These are classy shots from a classy photographer.
