Penn State's American football coach Joe Paterno (centre in glasses) is mobbed by supporters outside his home in Pennsylvania. The long-serving college coach was sacked on Wednesday in the wake of a child abuse scandal. Paterno, who had been with Penn State for 62 years, and university president Graham Spanier both lost their jobs after being accused of failing to act over allegations against Peterno's former assistant Jerry Sandusky. The move sparked violence as students took to the streets to protest about the decision.
