May 1960: Rupert Murdoch takes over the Sydney-based tabloid, the Daily Mirror. After the death of his father, Australian media baron Sir Keith Murdoch in 1952, Rupert had returned from England to inherit the indebted Herald and Weekly Times Ltd. Aged just 22, he quickly turned the company into a success.
