Meryl Streep was 29 when she shot to fame playing Linda in the Vietnam war film The Deer Hunter. Robert De Niro and Christopher Walken played two characters both of whom loved Linda. Streep, aged 29, was put forward for the first of her 16 Academy Award nominations, 13 Bafta nominations and 26 Golden Globe nominations.
