Shirley MacLaine's Hollywood career in pictures

After more than half a century in show-business, it was announced today that Shirley MacLaine will join the cast of Downton Abbey for the show's third series. Born in 1934, she was initially a dancer on Broadway before she pursued a Hollywood acting career. She is pictured here at the age of 24 with Joan Collins (right). The pair starred in These Old Broads 43 years later with Debbie Reynolds and Elizabeth Taylor.
