A clan of uncontacted Indians from the Amazonian Mashco-Piro tribe watch archaeologist Diego Cortijo photograph them through a telescope from a distance of over 100m in November 2011. Cortijo was on his way to meet the only man who could speak the tribe's language, Nicolas 'Shaco' Flores. Flores, an Indian from another tribe, was shot dead by a Mascho-Piro arrow just days later in a demonstration of how dangerous trying to make contact with such tribes can be. These photographs have been released by Survival International, a charity which campaigns to protect the rights of uncontacted tribes.
