Facebook floated on the Nasdaq stock exchange in New York today. Mark Zuckerberg's social networking site was valued at $104bn with shares worth $38 each. Trading was due to begin at 11am local time but the IPO was delayed by half an hour because of technical problems, possibly caused by the huge demand for shares. When trading finally began at 11.30am the price immediately jumped to more than $40 and 82 million shares were traded in the first 30 seconds.
