Sting plays villain Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in Dune, the epic 1984 film fantasy by David Lynch, which flopped in the US box office and was branded "obscenely homophobic" for its references to Aids. "[Sting] can't act but lends the film his charismatic rock star presence," wrote Contact Music. The latest rock star actor to get the thumbs down from critics is Pete Doherty, whose film Confession of a Child of the Century has been panned after a screening at this year's Cannes film festival.
