London theatre: post-war greats - pictures
Alison Steadman (left) in Abigail's Party, Harriet Walter (right) in the The Castle. Steadman made her name as the dreadful Beverly in the 1977 Hampstead Theatre production of Abigail's Party, while Walter is seen in the RSC's version of The Castle at The Barbican in 1985. Photographer Jeffrey was well-known to many theatre directors, including Mike Leigh, who wrote and directed Abigail's Party.
